Yesterday was the contest on the QT blog. Open to 100 entries there will be five winners, announced on April 9th, who will receive a critique on their query and first ten pages by Jason Yarn of Paradigm Agency.

To enter you had to submit a pith and first paragraph of your MS.
Now, I'm not the luckiest person in the world. I don't play the lottery, I don't gamble (unless it's closing my eyes after opening a pack of assorted chocolates and picking one) but I entered.
Arrggghhhhhhhhh.
I'm a downbeat kinda gal so I'm not gonna big myself up and say I'll win or anything like that but what I am proud of is that I entered. Baby steps yes but with each new day I feel myself getting braver.
A few years ago I never would have imagined I'd write a novel. I didn't know I'd join QT and meet so many amazing authors and people who inspire me. I didn't even dream I'd have my own blog with followers and everything!
So that made me wonder...What was the turning point that made you feel brave?

I entered too! I was so excited to be a part of this contest, but like you--I'm not too lucky (it seems esp. with agents condsidering my track record with querying). I wonder if we'll get a chance to read some entries from other authors once the results are posted?
Glad you entered Angela. I posted good luck on your blog, your writing rocks! Not sure if we'll get chance to read other entries, would be nice. I think they post the winning pitches though (they did on the last comp)so that will be useful.
Nope didn't enter. Just not in that frame of mind lately. It really sucks.
Turning point? Hmmm... I've always wanted to write a novel and have started numerous stories. Wrote tons of short stories, but the full novel always eluded me. My turning point I think was when I had first sketeched out a full outline - a beginning, a middle, and an end. It was then that I knew I could do it.
Years ago, I joined the Peace Corps and lived for two and a half years in Africa. I learned there the power in achieving goals, and ever since I've known I'm brave enough to face any challenge. What a wonderful question!
Best of luck in the contest!
Hi nicole, thanks for the kind words and joining my little blog.I'm hopping over now to check yours out too :) All I can say is wow, amazing answer. Joining the Peace Corps and living in Africa must have been an inspiring experience. No wonder you know you're brave enough for anything.
