The Land Of Books.

So one of the things I loved about the States (other than Pretzel M&M's *drools*) is the books.

We have some great bookstores over here but nothing compared to the monolith three story bookstore which greeted me in L.A.

I could have lived there. I didn't even get time to check out any smaller bookshops.

Stupid family bonding. lol.

After dragging the parents into the cafe, and giving them some cash for a drink (caffeine/muffin blackmail works wonders) I explored heaven with air conditioning.

An hour later I may have purchased a few *cough* books.

Okay, it was more than a few. Some were ones I'd saved for (like Linger) and the others depleted my saved cash from my birthday back in May.

What can I say, I'm a pantser when I write but plan for purchases. :)

I blame all the fab recommended reads. The Body Finder, The Deathday Letter, Deception, Wintergirls, The Wake trilogy, Twenty Boy Summer....My Goodreads shelves are going to be all kinds of awesome when I update.

So what have you been reading?

Wow...that's a stack of books! I started loading my Goodreads shelves this weekend. I was surprised I made it over 100 books read and I KNOW I'm missing TONS more.

Went to the cutest little bookshop yesterday, a little independent store in a tiny town and everything looked good! I somehow managed to buy one thing for each of my daughters and checked out of there without having to mortgage the house!

Thank you for rubbing all that book awesomeness in my face! I'm also a book purchase planner, by the way. Yesterday, I spent every dime I had left on six books that I wanted to get my hands on.

Looks like my WIP is gonna take a backseat :)

Ooh, book shopping is the best! I'm glad to hear you found a lot of great books to read :)

I was on a book reading spree but now it's time to concentrate back on the WIP. Have fun reading!

Book shopping is so much fun! If I ever get to the bottom of my reading pile it will be a small miracle! Have fun with yours!

I'm not familiar with that bookstore in LA! We always waste our time at the beach and eating at cheap Chinese restaurants. Next time I'm going!

Ah that sounds lovely. I'm reading The Girl Who Played with Fire, the Ranger's Apprentice and The Celestine Prophecy, but I just won The Deathday Letter from Beth's blog. Signed.

Now I'll have to buy an unsigned copy so that I can read it.

haha, I would've done the same thing, I'm sure!

Oh for the love of books, lol. Stupid family bonding time getting in the way of you and your pressure reading time, isn't right is it!!!

I know there are so many good books out there! I'm finishing up Eat,Pray,Love and I'm finally dived into The Forest of Hands in Teeth from this awesome girl that gave me the book to read ;)

Whoa! Crazy! Imagine, your family getting in the way of books. How could they do such a thing? :)

Sounds like you had a great time! I get lost in bookstores, too.

I just finished Princess of the midnight Ball. Very enjoyable read.

Bookstores rock!! I'm reading a book called The Mistress by Phillippe Tapon. I can't wait for it to be over! The plot is interesting, and there are momentary flashes of brilliant writing. For example:

He slapped her. There was a long silence while the house absorbed the cruel sound.

But most of the book reads like a first draft and I have to wonder who the hell edited the thing. Sadly, I'm not one to put down a book (except to throw it across the room) until I've reached the end, so I soldier on. Only 40 pages left. Wish me luck.

:D Hope you have a great week!!

I think bookstores are the candy stores for grown ups. Okay, at least they are for me!

I just won "I So Don't Do Mysteries" from Sherrie so I'm reading that. MG fun!

So many great books, so little time (and $$$). I live down the street from a three-story bookstore, and it is NOT easy on the wallet. Must read Shiver and Linger. I've heard great things.

Oh, I'm jealous! I can't WAIT to get inside a bookstore - I probably won't come out for days. :)

Oh... I want to read Wintergirls so bad. I went to the store today and forgot to buy it. Opps... guess I'll have to make another trip.

I have read The Body Finder, though. And it is brilliant. And I recently finished Twenty Boy Summer... also fabulous! I love books. So much!!(Probably too much. LOL)

I know exactly how you feel. Heaven is a large book store and pizza delivery. I wouldn't come out for weeks. :)
