1k A Day Challenge
I've been getting together on gmail chat with my CP's for daily write-a-thons. Since we've been having so much fun kicking our current wip word count into submission, Kristal had an awesome thought -- a 1K a day challenge.
I'll let her explain it:
I did a little math. If I write a little over 1k a day, I can finish my current project's 1st draft by the end of October, right in time to plung into NaNo again. And, even though I dislike NaNo, it is a great platform to START a book. I'm not sure if I would've gotten the jump start I needed without it last year. And, like I said, I want to continue in the habit of creating something new. If I finish the first draft of my current project, I want to have something prepared to write, so I can create while I edit the current book--which is where this NaNo idea comes in.
So I start today, writing at least 1k a day. Starting October 1st, I'd like you all to join me. I will post daily updates on my personal blog, and on Tuesdays, I expect you all to check in on the Operation Awesome blog and tell me how you're doing. And, as long as you are on that writing horse, join me also in November for NaNoWriMo. You can join me for one or the other, or both goals.
This coming Tuesday I will post code for the cute little button on Operation Awesome, so you can put it on your blog. Use it as a way to commit yourself to this goal. And, like me, tell everyone else. Perhaps by putting it out there, we will be more likely to achieve our goals.
If you can't do 1k a day, try a page a day. Let's get in the habit of creating something new.
Who is with me?
*Holds up hand*
So that's the challenge...anyone care to join us?

I'd love to join in but have weeks of editing ahead of me. But I suppose I could set a target of editing one thousand words a day.... mmmm...
Won't be able to commit since my book is coming out in October, but I plan to participate in NaNo!
That is awesome that you are getting so much writing done! Okay...you twisted my arm. I will do my best, to get 1k in a day. I do love your cute little button!
I'll do it. Let's be PRODUCTIVE.
I want to but....Taking a little vacay with the book release to focus on the business side of things. IN a few weeks though, I am ALL OVER IT!
Ok, I'm in 1k a day. I'm not sure I can do the chatroom but I will be writing 1k. ;)
I'll do it! I'm starting my new wip by the end of the week, which just happens to be October 1st. And I'm certainly hoping to log in 1 K a day. This is the closest to participating in NaNo that I'm going to get.
Holding up hand! Can't commit though :o( Work lkes to spring things on me at the last minute! But I'm with you in spirit!!!
Good luck with your 1K goal. I can't even think of doing that without getting chills but I'll be cheering you on :)
I can't do this, because I don't work well under pressure, but I WILL enjoy watching!
I'm going to try to stick to this kind of a schedule--eek did I just almost commit to something ;--)
that's awesome! I took up pretty much the same challange and finished a 70k book in about two months! It was hard and time consuming but it had to be done. Good luck!
I'm in! Someone needs to light a fire under me. I'm on chapter 5... since last week.
I'm in but I may fail. I've been progressing with the wip nicely but not so fast that I'm going to finish this week (which was my intended goal). I am in it to finish. If I finish my wip before then, I will be taking myself out to work on outlining for NaNo. Until then, I am yours. ;)
I so admire all you who commit out there. I'm felling wishy-washy, but I'll commit to finishing my WIP. That will be significantly less than 1k a day. More like a page. But it's something!
I would love to join in; it just might give me the push to finish this first draft, also. I'm not sure if I can make it to the chats (unfortunately, I have classes at that very time), but I'll definitely try to remember to check in daily.
What a great idea and I wish all the participants the best of luck! Unfortunately I've already joined into NaBloWriMo for October and then NaNoWriMo for the month of November, anymore and I might explode!
That's an awesome goal! I'm still getting used to university, so I don't know if it'd be the wisest thing to do (grades kinda matter) but if I'm able to, I certainly will!
I'd like to join, but the first half of October is slammed with other commitments.
I'm with you!
