I Knew Harry Potter Was Educational!

Yes, Harry Potter is a writing tool. Why? Well all I can say is check out Nathan Bransford's post on writing tips from reading Harry Potter.

Also today is my post day over on Operation Awesome. Feel free to pop by and say hi. Now I have to go and play, I mean write with the new Scrivener Beta edition for PC. If anyone uses Scrivener, please share your shortcut knowledge with me. I'm a newbie to it.

Finally I leave you with these thoughts. There are some things in life that puzzle me.

Why is it that when I spend an hour looking for something, I've been sat on it the entire time? Hello pen...my you're warm.

Why do ideas for scenes pop in your brain just before you are going to sleep or wake you up at 3am?

Can you answer my pondering? Any other thoughts you want to add to the list?

Happy Wednesday!

I think ideas pop in when you're relaxed, so the trick is getting yourself into that state BEFORE you go to bed. LOL

My ideas either come to me in the middle of the night or when I'm at work or somewhere not exactly convenient to stop and write.

I'd have to agree with Vicki that our ideas have to come when we're relaxed and not forcing the process.

I loved Nathan's post about Harry Potter! I'm counting down the days till the big day! Woohoo!!

All these thoughts and questions still have me wondering. I'm with Vicki and Renae, I suppose the more relaxed you are the more creative your brain becomes!

I'll be stopping by OA soon!

Yep. HP rules and NB only makes it even better.

That is when your subconscious is overtaken by your muse. At least that is what happens to me.:)

Loved Nathan's post! And yes, I think all the inanimate objects in my house secretly come to life and hide themselves because I frequently find them in places where I already looked half a dozen times. :D

I'm with Vicki - I think it's because we're so relaxed that the ideas creep out! I know I always get my ideas right before I go to sleep.

Oh, I hate how ideas pop into my head when I'm in bed. Then I have to rouse myself enough to sit up and either text a message to my email or turn the light on to make a note. I love it when the ideas strike but I wish they would come at more convenient moments!

Loved NB's post, too!

Sitting on pens is the least of my problems. I misplace my Nalgene bottle, my glasses, and cell phone all the time, usually on a bookshelf somewhere in the house. And when I finally give up looking, I usually say so loudly to my husband while standing right next to the lost object.

It's some kind of twisted law of Physics. At least he gets a kick out of it. :)

As for book ideas, I take them whenever they come, even if I have to repeat them over and over again in the shower so I don't forget them. (So sorry for the mental image!)

Oh, the warm pen! It happens to me all the time. I think great ideas come when we allow ourselves to relax. Hence the 3:00 am inspiration.

I love the middle of the night ideas. Sometimes they're garbage, sometimes they're golden, but they're almost always interesting!

I know all about looking for a pen I've been sitting on. That's why I've got pens hidden all over the house. :)

Sometimes, I'll just go lay in bed and think if I'm stuck. During the day, but my room is really dark, and I figure stuff out. Sometimes I also fall asleep, but I can remember it!
