Adventures with a synopsis.

Before I jetted off on holiday I knew there was something to tackle. Something I had put off in the hope it would write itself.

We all know the pain. You spend hours writing your manuscript then endure hours of revision, eating chocolate, pulling of hair and caffeine induced hazes.

Finally the pain ends. To begin again with the synopsis.

I have always had a fear of the synopsis. I don't know why, it just terrifies the British stiff upper lip off me.

So, when I was reading Frankie Writes and she said she'd participated in an awesome query workshop I had to check it out.

But I thought you were talking about the synopsis?

I promise I'm getting to it.

After finishing the query workshop I found C.J also does synopsis workshops, so I signed up.

I have now finished my synopsis. Yes, the terror has ended and I am the proud owner of a shiny mini-version of my book.

So, if you ever need any help then check out C.J's site here.

Thanks for the link! Synopses are horrid. I'm so glad you got yours done. :)

Yay for you! Synopses scare the politeness out of me, so this post comes at a great time. Better go check that link!

I'm so much more scared of synopses than I am of queries, really. I'm glad the terror has ended for you, and thank you for the link! :)

Thanks for the link! My synopses (is that the right plural? hope so!) tend to sound so stiff and bland. But alas, part of the process. Glad you finished yours!

Congrats on getting the synopsis completed! It's not easy! I've heard a lot of good things about CJ's workshops, but I haven't done one yet - maybe in the summer :)

Yeah! You finished your synopsis. Have a piece of chocolate. You deserve it. :)

My editor asked me to do one for a sequel that I haven't written yet. Very interesting and in many ways much easier than after writing the book.

Congrats!!! That is such a big deal! I have never been able to write a synopsis so I think I need to scurry on over and check it out!

Congratulations. It is such a great feeling to be done with it isn't it?

I got some help from Paula B over at the Writing Show and it turned out great.

It's nerve-wracking to write one. I'd rather write a novel. But it is a relief when it's finally done.

Yay to writing your synopsis! I had to write one when my agent started to sub my book, and I stressed over it so much. I still shake a bit when I hear the word!
