I Heart Books.

I've spent an enormous amount of time in the bookshop over the last two weeks.

Why?

I could lie. Pretend I got conned by the 3 for 2 sign in the window. But that would be a misrepresentation of information.

No I went in there with specific reasons. A nefarious plot that saw me rubbing my hands in glee.

1)I have a loyalty card that gives me points to buy more books. My last free book? A nursery rhyme collection for the goddaughter, my toddler student in the school of book/reading love.

2)I was looking for a specific book. Didn't see it though. Grrrr.

3)It's peaceful.

I can browse the shelves and time seems to slow. The spines whisper and vie for attention.

"Take us home, read us and love us. Let us inspire you."

I get the same feeling when I walk into the library. The stacks hold promised tomes which wait to be uncovered like the treasures of Egypt. Only without the rumours of curses.

A nightmare about a killer book monster coming after me would not be fun. A good story idea, but not fun. :)

What is it about the power of books? Words on a page inspire us, make us think and encourage us to be creative in subtle ways. They feed our imaginations and draw us into other worlds/situations.

No wonder we all strive to recreate the same feelings within our own manuscripts.

Books are like chocolate. They release the rush of endorphins you get from eating the treat but without the calories.

Even if they are just as addictive. :)

I love love love book stores. Especially used bookstores because you never know what you're going to find!

Lately though, they've all been calling to me. Like raucous puppies at the pet store. I am seriously out of shelf space, yet I keep adopting the buggers.

Yep, I could spend all day in a good bookstore. Given the option of having to give up chocolate or books - I'd give up chocolate.

I love the no calories aspect of book reading, and the library keeps my husband sane, he doesn't like the bookstore near as much, more or less beacuse it costs us so much money. The addiction is awful!!! But I wouldn't change it for the world!!

I love the several local libraries in my area, they give me the chance to read the books before I will buy them (which I end up buying most of them!)

This may sound weird, but I love the smell of bookstores. All that fresh crisp paper... if I could I'd have a bath o' books!

Books and chocolates are a perfect analogy -- both so terribly addicting. :)

One of my and my husband's favorite things to do after we eat out is go to the book store. There's just something about being around all those books! So many possibilities!

Vicki. I'm lacking in the shelf space too.

Matthew. I agree with that. :)

Stina. Ooh I'm jealous. I want the endorphin rush too. :)

Justine. I like to think of it as frugal investments in already loved books. :)

Jaydee. Yup. I'm with you on the giving up chocolate if it came down to it.

Mayowa. Heehee, gald you liked that line.

Hilary. I know, the rush it weird. But worth it. :0

Tahereh. Me too. If I'm feeling low I like to go to the bookstore. Always leave feeling happy.

Christina. Oh yeah, books and chocolate. Hmmmm.

Renae. We are so similar. I usually get a Starbucks Latte before I go into the bookstore to look around. Killing two birds with one stone. :)

Jen. Oh dear, I admit to doing the same. I get books from the library, love them, and then go buy them. :)

Talli. It's not weird, promise. I'm the same. I think that is why I'm reluctant to embrace e-readers. lol.

Lydia. Ahh, love a good book addiction. :)

Jemi. It's weird isn't it? Time seems to evaporate.

Sandy. Oh yes, both way too addictive. :)

Jana. That sounds like a great idea. And you are right about the possibilites within books.

Jesson. Lol. I'm the same. The bookstore is my library once I'm in it. :)
