I is for Inspiration and Ideas

Inspiration and idea. We wait for that moment, for the idea to strike. And it can be frustrating when the inspiration refuses to cooperate.

We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action.
                                                                                                                                         Frank Tibolt.

So we occupy our minds. We read, watch T.V, movies, go for walks and listen to music. We occupy our mind with a million different things. Take long showers, clean the bathroom, do the laundry, exercise and wait for the inspiration to strike.

And it will.

In the end, inspiration is a little like a flower. It blooms in the sun of activity. Trust in your inspiration and preoccupy your mind. Sooner or later the sun will shine and it will bloom.

This struck a chord with me. I put off writing because I have no ideas, and then when I force myself to write I get loads of them. I think it's because I click in to something creative when I write, so maybe I'm more open to ideas?

Great post Lindsay, as usual. And so true, my ideas always come at the oddest of times, but I'm not going to complain!

Love that quote! It's so true. I think sitting down and actually writing is what brings on inspiration!

What a beautiful hopeful post. I only lack inspiration when I don't actually sit my butt down and write.

Aw love this, esp. this line: It blooms in the sun of activity. So lovely xo!

Movies! Yes, those inspire me. And I really dig watching movies, too.
Thanks for your awesome words, Lindsay.

Love the idea of inspiration as a flower ... waiting to bloom.

How about an Iris for I-Day?

I hate waiting for ideas to come but when they do, it's an awesome feeling. Lovely post :)

Inspirations and ideas always come to me as I exercise. I solved an issue with my plot yesterday while gasping for air (still recovering from a wicked cold). ;)
