Agent Judged Contest.

I know I highlighted some great contests the other day, but here is another one for you if you write Young Adult and Middle Grade.

And here are the details straight from the QueryTracker.blog.

EVERYBODY WINS!

Agent Kathleen Ortiz of Lowenstein Associates will be judging the next contest.

When?: Tuesday June 1, 2010 at 9:00 PM EST.
How many?: 100 entries will be accepted.
Genres?: Young Adult and Middle Grade.
Rules?: You must be a follower of the QueryTracker blog.

To enter all you need to do is have free QueryTracker membership. Submit a one-sentence pitch and your first chapter

The awesome Suzette Saxton warns that this contest is not for whiners! It's only open to those who are willing to receive honest feedback. Ms. Ortiz will:

"Treat every entry as a partial submission (therefore you must only enter if you, in Ms. Ortiz's words "for the LOVE OF GODIVA," have a completed MS).
Read every entry TO THE POINT SHE WOULD NORMALLY STOP READING on a partial submission.
She will tell you why she stopped reading.
She will request more of the manuscript only if it is something she would normally request."

So how cool is that? If you are one of the 100 entries you are going to get feedback on your first chapter.

If you are interested, don't forget to check it out.

Happy Friday everyone. :)

I'm looking forward to the adult one! Why is it that YA and Middle grade books seem to be the only exisiting genres nowadays!?

double dang...I'm not YA and I'm not complete. But if I were I'd be ALL over this. Like setting my alarm extra early to make sure I was up and my entry was poised and ready to go the minute the contest opened.

Because they sell so well. Frustrating, I know. I'm sure there must be some contests out there somewhere for you.

I'm tempted to enter just for the feedback. Thanks for the reminder. I just need to polish my one liner.

This does sound like a great contest. Too bad my manuscript isn't complete.

I'm very excited about this contest, but also nervous. I'm always complaining that I've never gotten feedback from an agent, but if I can be one of the 100 allowed entries, I may get feedback that is difficult to hear. Either way, I'm definitely planning on entering!

This is so awesome, but i never seem to get there on time. I wonder if it's because I'm on the west coast?! :-)

The Alliterative Allomorph. I think it's because it sells. Plus, there is the cross-over factor for adults. Good luck with the adult one next month. :)

MissV. Aww, take your time and get that MS ready. Then you can get up early to submit.:)

Matthew. I agree on the YA comment. I'm sure there are some contests for adults somewhere. I'll keep my eyes peeled. :)

Stina. Same here. The feedback would be amazing. Thing I better polish my one-liner too.:)

Jaydee. Don't worry, they have more coming up. :)

Carrie. Your welcome. Plus, it's nice when everyone wins.:)

Palindrome. I agree. It is awesome news for YA/MG writers. A partial submission with feedback = huge smiles.

CQG. No problems. It's going to be great.

Elana. Happy to help. You guys do a fantastic job over on the blog.

Lydia. I haven't decided yet either, but I'm polishing in case I do enter. The chance for feedback is tempting.

Angela. Yya, good for you. I'm nervous too if I decide to try to enter. But I figure it's no worse than sending a query out. I hope.

Shannon. Aww. I've put the timezone clocks on my phone. On the day I check them so I don't miss the slot. Hehee.
