Election? Pah, lets vote books!

Today is the general elections here in the UK.

You know the day, when everyone votes for who they want to govern them from the fancy Houses of Parliament in London for the next four/five years.

And yes, I shall vote. But don't worry, I'm not about to get all political.

This is a politics free blog.

But - as is the way of my weird mind - I decided to have a little vote too. And my vote is for books.

Now I have many book loves. But, keeping with my YA writing roots, one of my must read books (and I'm going to cheat here) is The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

Look at them, all shiny in their post-apocalyptic glory. Ahhh.

I'm sure you've heard about the books from other sources, so I won't bore you with the details. Okay, maybe just a snippet.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. But Katniss has been close to death before—and survival, for her, is second nature....Welcome to the deadliest reality TV show ever...

Mockingjay- the third book - is released on the 24th of August, so you still have time to read the first two if you haven't already. Once I started reading I couldn't stop, so it won't take long.

Then join me in biting my nails for Mockingjay. :)

Much like Monday's amazing blog day that was Spreading The Awesome, I want to know what books you love. The ones you couldn't put down.

Go on, make my reading list grow. :)

dang, I don't know how to put the cool little pics in here...

Two books my daughter was reading (both first in a series) that sucked me in:

A Great & Terrible Beauty - Libba Bray
The Summoning - Kelley Armstrong

Both paranormals. They weren't perfect books, but once I started them, I had to finish them despite some of the predictability.

Okay, umm, I keep hearing great things about those books but I haven't read them so I can comment.

Some books I have read this year that I loved:

- The Road by Cormac McCarthy
- The Kids Are All Right by Liz and Diane Welch with Dan and Amanda Welch

There ya go. Thanks for sharing Lindsay.

A book for authors... For authors and bears... maybe for bears and authors. A book for everyone really.

"The bear went over the mountain" William Kotzwinkle.

It's a light very funny read that I couldn't put down.

Like Matthew, I STILL haven't read the awesomeness of Suzanne Collins! But I hope to do so at some freakin' point!

Anyway, here are some of my faves:

SAVVY by Ingrid Law (not YA, but a whole lotta fun)

GRACELING by Kristin Cashore

THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS TRILOGY by Cassandra Clare

I want all these lovely ladies to adopt me :D

I am so with you, Lindsay! I LOVE The Hunger Games Trilogy! I've already asked off for the 24th, nothing but reading that day, baby. =) Gosh, there are so many great books out there. Like 'Eyes Like Stars' by Lisa Mantchev, and 'Ship Breaker' by Paolo Bacigalupi(another dystopian).

MissV. I don't know how to put cool pics in here either.:)

I've got The Summoning on my shelf but not the Libba Bray one. Thanks for the tips.

Matthew. Thanks for the tips. I've wanted to read The Road for a while. I prefer to read the book before I see the movie. :)

Alesa. Not heard of that one. Ooh, undiscovered books make me happy. Thats.

Amparo. Ooh, I've got the other two you mentioned but not the Ingrid Law one. Thanks for the tips. Squeee.

leandrajam. Ah join me in the HG love. I'm so looking forward to the third book. I just have to wait for it to arrive. I'm so jealous you'll get to know what happens before me. lol.

if I listed all the books I couldn't put down, this would be a very long comment indeed.

the last book I couldn't put down was Simon Holt's The Devouring series. So so riveting.
